I dream of financial independence.
Many people have the same dream. Yet financial independence means different things to different people. For some it may be million-dollar homes, first-class travel, and schmoozing with celebrities. For others a shack near the surf with a veggie garden out the back will suffice.
I’m not sure what financial independence might mean for my lifestyle. What I do know is that I would rather not check into work every day. For me financial independence is not idleness, but the option to be idle, and, more importantly, the time to throw myself into my latest obsession.
You see, my problem is that I get fixated on new projects and hobbies. But then other responsibilities, such as full-time jobs, get in the way. I get frustrated, which affects my work, and then I get anxious and depressed … Basically I don’t want to be tied to a job! Is that so bad?
So that’s my dream: Financial independence.
And this is another blog, inspired by the dream.
If I had time … yadda yadda … I would regularly post to this blog just as I would regularly post to my other blogs, The Travel Blog Post and New Media Mania, as well as to my modest and underutilised contribution to the travel and tourism industry The Good Travel & Tourism Wiki.
All of the above linked websites have been pet projects of mine in the past, and all of them continue to pique my interest from time to time … If only I had the time!
Maybe this self-indulgent journal of earning, spending, saving, and investing can help me find it.
